Ottawa Day 2024
On February 26th & 27th EFC’s executive leadership accompanied by member representatives returned to Parliament Hill, in Ottawa, to advocate on behalf of our members and the electrical and automation industry. Calling for government to pave the way for decarbonization and lessen the impacts of climate change through electrification.
In efforts to accelerate urgent implementation of crucial policies, the group met with officials at the following government agencies; Transportation Canada, Natural Resource Canada (NRCAN), Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). EFC also met with MPs and Senators who have vested interests in energy and natural resources, environment and climate change, transportation, and trade and economic development. These meetings gave EFC the opportunity to further relationships with key lawmakers to ensure the interests of the electrical industry are represented in policy decisions and legislation.
During this monumental visit, EFC strengthened a position to advise on policies related to supply chains, energy efficiency, fuel switching in buildings, grid modernization, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and more.
A reception event was held on the evening of February 26, sponsored by MP Francesco Sorbara, which gave EFC members a chance to meet and collaborate further with MPs, key officials, and policymakers. EFC promoted the necessity of energy-efficient solutions and emphasized the potential to drive economic growth while reducing carbon emissions.
Overall, the visit to Ottawa was a success, reaffirming the role EFC members as the voice of the Electrical industry, and solidifying inroads to transformative change, that will propel our industry and Canada towards a greener future.
