OEN-Bruce Power Advanced Energy Studies Scholarship
The Ontario Energy Network (OEN) is a not-for-profit organization which provides networking opportunities to leaders and emerging leaders of the energy industry in Ontario, as well as supporting charitable initiatives and a scholarship program. Bruce Power is an all-Canadian partnership and Canada’s first private nuclear generator, providing 30% of Ontario’s electricity as well as medical isotopes for the world’s health care sector.
Bruce Power is pleased to support this scholarship recognizing a graduate student in honour of Dr. Ron Oberth, who worked in the Canadian nuclear industry for more than 30 years, with Ontario Hydro, Ontario Hydro International, AECL and Ontario Power Generation. Dr.Oberth has served as President and CEO of the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries and is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and the Rotman School of Business, receiving his PhD in aerospace propulsion from Princeton University.
In order to continue to thrive, the energy industry needs to recruit talented professionals and a diverse workforce. The OEN-Bruce Power Advanced Energy Studies Scholarship will be granted to an Ontario university student who is pursuing a post-graduate degree in an energy-related field, such as science, engineering, chemistry, information technology, business or sustainable development.
Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a post-graduate degree targeting a career in the energy sector, candidates that have demonstrated a commitment to community service, as well as individuals with a connection to an OEN member company such as previous student or full-time employment.
