EFC Quebec Region “Personality of the Year” Awarded at 18th Annual QC Region Golf Tournament
Each year, the Quebec region members present the Personality of the Year Award to honour an individual who has been a significant contributor to our industry in the Quebec region, demonstrating strong leadership through personal and professional contributions.
This year’s recipient; Rachelle Caron on Westburne, was honoured during the dinner at the golf tournament on Tuesday, May 22nd at Club de Golf Hillsdale in Mirabel, Quebec.
Rachelle Caron joined the electrical industry in the 1980’s as the Controller for an HVAC and refrigeration distributor which was acquired a few years later Westburne. After nine years in this role, Rachelle was promoted to Controller for Westburne’s Eastern region. In 2002, after demonstrating leadership, dedication and persistence, she was again promoted, this time to the position of General Manager, a position she held for close to 16 years.
As a young woman with an accounting background, it was quite unique to have Rachelle leading such an organization, particularly in such a male-dominated industry. However, as a result of her work ethic and including her ability to collaborate with her team and partners, Rachelle developed her sales knowledge and built herself an excellent reputation as a hard worker with innovative ideas. Rachelle was always motivated challenges.
Rachelle’s achievements are numerous. For the last 30 years, she has helped propel Westburne from 5th place to 2nd place in the Quebec electrical distribution market. She has built a strong and dynamic team that can carry on the incredible work that she has done over the years. Rachelle’s legacy is the positive impact that will be felt at Westburne for years to come.
Rachelle has been a constant supporter of Electro-Federation Canada. She has been a familiar and friendly face at EFC Christmas receptions, golf tournaments, conferences, and was always available to give constructive and valuable input to help improve programs for all members.
What would Rachelle Caron like to see for this industry in the next 30 years? More women in leadership roles! She hopes her message is strong and loud: Women can and have succeeded in the electrical industry.
