EFC Appoints Communications and Atlantic Region Coordinator
Dennis Potharst has been appointed EFC’s Communications & Atlantic Region Coordinator to support regional programming and national communications, effective April 5th, 2021. Dennis will be responsible for EFC’s weekly newsletter, website management and will lead EFC’s Atlantic region to support all activities and programs. Based in Halifax, Dennis will replace Kathy Saunders, who has valuably supported the region for many years. Kathy will support Dennis through this transition up until April 30th. EFC is grateful to Kathy for her many years of dedication to EFC and regional members. Dennis has strong marketing and event programming experience that will serve as a valuable addition to the regional group.
Dennis brings more than 10 years of experience in marketing and communications roles in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Prior to joining EFC, Dennis has worked with several organizations including Seaboard Transport Group, Prostate Cancer Canada, and the Atlantic Canada Regional Council of Carpenters, Millwrights and Allied Workers, where he managed corporate branding strategy, digital content creation, and event coordination for the building-trades union with nearly 10,000 members across Atlantic Canada. Committed to continuous learning, he maintains membership with the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), a global community of communication professionals. Locally, he has served two terms on the IABC Maritime Canada Chapter Board of Directors. Dennis is also an active community member, volunteering his time as a board member with the Canadian Stuttering Association and the Prostate Cancer Canada Atlantic Region Advisory Council.
A graduate of the University of Calgary, Dennis holds a Bachelor of Communications Studies degree as well as a journalism diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
