A Happy National YPN Day was Shared Across the Regions!

Good things come in threes. This June the Atlantic, Ontario, and Quebec YPN regions celebrated their National YPN Day, recognizing the electrical industry’s tenacious, creative, and driven young professionals, through three virtual experiences on June 17th & 18th. Read more.

On June 17th, Ontario and Quebec regions gather virtually with YPNs for a social good time. Thankfully, lockdowns are loosening across these provinces, but it was still too soon for them all to meet in person. They didn’t let the video cameras get in the way. Instead, YPNs embraced the opportunity to find resourceful ways to share and enjoy their experiences. Some shared fun social posts, many were engaged in the activity and a safe group of four gathered safely.

The YPN Ontario region, led by chair Joanna Kwant, Gerrie Electric, and vice chair, Peter Mackie, Ideal Supply, hosted a virtual trivia using the popular Kahoot platform. The scoreboards were strong but only three lucky winners took home a prize: 1st place: Jarrod Stewart, Satco, 2nd Place Marc Brownridge, ABB, 3rd place Nicole Macleod, Sesco. Congratulations to the winners who have generously donated the winnings back to the Food Drive initiative. View the YPN Food Drive announcement, click here. Thank you to all the YPN members who participated in the event. Big thank you to YPN regional sponsors: Hammond Power Solutions, Premise LED, Ideal Industries Canada, Ideal Supply, Schneider Electric, Stanpro (ASCOT).

The YPN Quebec region, led by chair Jean-François Gravel of Leviton Canada, and vice chair Amélie Cyr-Lapointe of Westburne, hosted a virtual Blind Beer Tasting event on June 17th. The young professionals who attended this event were guided through the beer making process as well as a discussion about the history, the aromas, the flavours, and the appearance of three different beers from local breweries. This virtual event was an open platform to comment about the beer, to ask questions and to simply reconnect with and enjoy the company of other young professionals in the electrical industry. In addition, the Quebec Region YPN network raised funds for the West Island Cancer Wellness Center (WICWC). View the details on this “GIVE” initiative. Thanks to all YPN members who took part in this event, and of course to the Quebec Region YPN Sponsors, Franklin Empire, Leviton Canada, Ascot Capital Group and Stelpro.

The Atlantic region wrapped up their YPN Atlantic Food Drive on June 16. Totals for food and monetary donations are still coming in and numbers will be announced soon. On June 18, the YPN Atlantic Committee hosted a “GROW” event on the topic of “Brand Awareness using LinkedIn presented by Mark MacDonald, LC, CET, Principal, Business Development – Nova Scotia with Catalyst Sales and Marketing. More than 40 YPN’s attended the hour-long session that focused on leveraging LinkedIn to create a lead generation plan, promote your business using LinkedIn ads, and drive up visibility and brand recognition.
