YPN Ontario Committee Recognizes Members Who GIVE Back
EFC’s Young Professionals Network stands on three core pillars: Gather, Grow, and Give.
For years, YPNs hosted live ‘Gather’ events, in-person ‘Grow’ training sessions, and have met up to carry out charitable ‘Give’ initiatives. But with the declaration of a global pandemic, YPN members have had to pivot their strategies this year.
Instead of in-person gatherings, ‘Gather’ and ‘Grow’ events were held on virtual platforms.
And rather than meeting in-person to stuff shoeboxes with essential items or collect donations for local shelters, ‘Give’ initiatives were shared by YPN members, across the province, on their social networks.
At the start of the month, EFC’s YPN Ontario committee asked members in their region to use the hashtag #YPNGIVE when sharing theses various give-back initiatives and volunteers efforts on their social platforms. Whether you tagged us or not, we want to recognize the following member companies for giving back to their communities this season.
You’ve shown us that together we can make a difference!
To start this off, EFC would like to thank all our members for contributing to our charity of choice, Habitat for Humanity Canada. Every year, members from across Canada contribute their time and effort to Habitat for Humanity, helping thousands of Canadians gain affordable and safe housing. Thank you again for supporting this meaningful cause!

Southwire Gives Hope for the Holidays in Final Phase of $1 Million Donation
Southwire provided ‘Hope for the Holidays’, during the months of November and December, by giving a total of $250,000 to organizations like Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Angel Tree, Feed My Starving Children and more. This brings their total amount of donations, this year, to $1 million.
This Southwire initiative started back in April after they announced that they would be expanding their philanthropic efforts by donating a total of $1 million toward COVID-19 relief. To kick this off, they made a $500,000 donation to Feeding America® and other similar international organizations across its communities. Then in July, Southwire held a virtual ‘Back to School’ event in celebration of its $250,000 donation given through more than 35,000 bags of free school supplies that were shipped across the country to local children in need. On top of this, the company hosted a virtual ‘Hope for the Holidays’ fundraising event to celebrate its 70th anniversary, with a goal of raising an additional $70,000 to help more communities.
