2019 EFC CEMRA Award Recipient: Kenneth Hooper, NEMRA
This year’s EFC 2019 CEMRA Person of the Year Award recipient is Kenneth Hooper from NEMRA. This award recognition is given to an EFC member individual or company that makes a difference to CEMRA by demonstrating leadership, commitment and outstanding contribution.
You could say that Ken was born into the electrical industry; his father was head of NAED for 30 years. He officially began his career journey at General Electric, then LeGrand/Pass & Seymour and spent a greater part of his career at Mersen. Hooper has served as NEMRA’s leader since 2009, as President and CEO, where he applied his knowledge and experience to build programs and services for manufacturer representatives that develop and strengthen their channel relationships. As stated by Joe Tumlin, Chairman of NEMRA, “Ken has been a visionary leader and under his direction NEMRA has grown its membership, introduced numerous innovative programs, and propelled our annual conference to be the largest and most productive meeting in the electrical industry,” (Oct. 2018 Press Release).
Ken Hooper’s visionary leadership coupled with his outstanding passion to contribute to the industry has extended outwards to our EFC – CEMRA network. We are thankful to Mr. Hooper for his commitment to the industry in building partnerships and programs across borders.
We asked Ken what this award means to him. He stated, “it means a tremendous amount to be among the all-star cast of recipients. I’m honoured to be added to the list. For an American to win a Canadian award means the world. Geographic position didn’t preclude the positive impact that comes from the CEMRA & NEMRA partnership. All for one and one for all.”
Nominating a company or individual for their hard work and successful accomplishments builds our community to grow, lead and compete in an ever-changing world. Recognition can breed success.
